Hands Off the City Hall 2 Mission Statement

We believe the attack on the City Hall 2 is more than an attack on Diop Olugbala (aka Wali Rahman) and Shabaka Mnombatha (aka Franklin Moses). It is an attempt by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and his entire administration to silence the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement, the organizational leadership of the African working class that has exposed Mayor Nutter's current city budget as a scheme to further exploit the African community for more taxes, fines and labor while investing our hard earned resources into more police and prisons which impose violence and terror on the African community.

Further, the attack on the City Hall 2 is an attack by the City of Philadelphia on the right to free speech to the African community -- a right everyone is supposedly guaranteed through the first amendment of the U.S. constitution.

Intrinsic in the demand for the complete exoneration of the City Hall 2 is the demand for a removal of the leadership of the City Government which, on one side is responsible for the same attacks made on the InPDUM and the City Hall 2 and the African working class they represent, and on the other hand is endowed with the responsibility of upholding the same democratic principles of free speech and self determination it continues to violate.

To unite with the demand "Hands off the City Hall 2" is to unite with the struggle for free speech for all and economic and social justice for the poor and historically oppressed African community in the City of Philadelphia. Finally, a main objective is to unify Africans from every class strata and people of other nationalities to fight for and organize to win the demands of justice, reparations, and total exoneration of the Philly City Hall 2.

The City Hall 2 Defense Committee is calling on all lovers of freedom and social justice to unite with the following demands:

  1. All charges against and be dropped immediately. (sign petition here)
  2. Reparations to all the people injured by the police thugs at City Hall on March 19th.
  3. Fire the police thugs who attacked Shabaka and Diop
  4. Impeach Mayor Nutter
